Art Director, The Bulwark • December 2018 to Present

  • Established a visual voice and cohesive brand identity through editorial illustrations, graphic design, and photo editing. Handled selecting feature images for every story published on the website, newsletters, and podcasts.

  • Produced eight (8) podcast brand identities for The Bulwark Podcast, Summer Monday’s with Will & Charlie, Need to Know with Amanda Carpenter, The Next Level, Bulwark Goes to Hollywood, Shield of the Republic, Beg to Differ, and Just Between Us.

  • Designed, produced, and wrote the limited-run newsletter Hellcat on running an ultra-marathon relay race from Los Angeles to Las Vegas.

  • Edited feature pieces covering a range of topics from foreign policy to education reform.

  • Wrote long form on trends during the pandemic, as well as arts and literary criticism.

  • Developed and executed creative strategies for the publication across media channels and digital platforms. Including all content development, organic and paid campaigns, scheduling, and planning for Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram. Also handled generating headlines for greater SEO impact.

  • Served as the in-house photographer for events, headshots, and reporting assignments.

 Social Media Editor, The Weekly Standard • September 2017 to December 2018

  • Created and executed strategies for Facebook that increased organic referral traffic by 49% in six (6) months. Interaction rate and engagement went up 67% in the same time frame by implementing Instant Articles, increased sharing to groups, and a fact-checking partnership.

  • Helped establish and manage partnerships with Twitter, Flipboard, Reddit, SmartNews, Crowdtangle, and Apple News.

  • Launched and managed the official Instagram account for the magazine.

  • Designed the Author Alerts email newsletter campaign.

  • Contributed original photography and graphic design for both the magazine and web, including art for four (4) magazine cover stories.

Assistant Literary Editor, The Weekly Standard • August 2016 to September 2017

  • Responsible for the layout and design of the Books and Arts section of the print edition of the magazine. Included curating art and copy editing.

  • Worked with publishing houses to order and ship galleys/advance reader copies to contributors.

  • Managed more than 30 contributors.
